Listening as Gift and Process

At St. Michael’s we have a highly committed and compassionate group of people who have taken on a ministry of leading small groups. We work together to deepen our spirituality and to develop our listening skills. Gradually we have discovered that listening itself is a kind of sacrament, a joy, a ministry, a way of love. It was for a meeting of this group that I wrote the following brief description of the listening process: what happens when people are listened to! Click here to see the PDF.

Support the Diocesan Belize Mission by Making Me Run Ten Miles....

Sponsor me in the Tarheel Ten Miler. Every dollar I raise will go to Anglican Holy Cross Mission in Belize, where the Diocese, and St. Michael’s has been active for many years. We have built a school, improved living conditions, and received grace upon grace from the people there. We have now embarked on building a church there! Video of Sunday Forum: Practicing Epiphany

This is a Sunday Forum Talk at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC, on jan 6, 2019. I explore how we can practice Epiphany not by waiting to have an epiphany experience, but by learning how to see our lives as providing the context for God to tell God’s story. We can wonder how God would tell the story of God’s loving ministry to us in our life; we can then wonder at God’s presence NOW.

Video-St. Paul and New Creation, Part 3

A Sunday Forum talk at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Sept 30, 2018. This is part III of our parish exploration of the New Creation in Saint Paul. Having talked about a new way of belonging to God and others as essential to the new Creation, I explore here our new purpose in Christ: reflecting the life of Jesus into our world.
